Denmark to help Vietnam develop technology catalogue for power production

14:33 - 23/01/2022

The catalogue would be seen as a constructive data input for Vietnam`s long-term energy planning, said a Vietnam official during its kickoff event today.

A kickoff workshop for the catalogue held by the Danish Energy Agency (DEA) and Vietnam took place in Hanoi today. The event is part of Energy Partnership Program between Vietnam and Denmark 2017-2020 (DEPP), jointly conducted by Vietnam’s Electricity and Renewable Energy Agency (EREA) and DEA.
Funded with US$3 million ODA from Danish government, the program aims to build capacity within long-range energy sector planning, in which one of the key activities is to establish a technology catalogue for power production for Vietnam to support EREA in development of the National Power Development Plan 8.
Speaking at the launching event,  Le Van Luc, Deputy Director General of EREA believes the catalogue, once completed, would contribute helpful input data for Vietnam's policy makers in building long term energy planning.
At the workshop, Jakob Lundsager, Long-term advisor for DEPP shared that Denmark with high proportion of renewable sources  (equivalent to 60% of total power generation) in its developed energy system, has partnered with some countries, including Vietnam in this field. The DEA has joined hand to build the Vietnam Energy Outlook Report last year and will keep cooperate with Vietnam to head to a long term energy planning.
The workshop became a forum for international experts to share their experience on energy development for Vietnam.
